How many different gym memberships have you had in your life? Like many people, I’ve tried them all – including paying for a year of 1:1 sessions with a personal trainer. I ran distance for a long time. But I must say that nothing I have ever done in the past can compare to what I do now at Crossfit Hamilton.
I’d seen the Crossfit Games on TV. Those incredible athletes were intimidating. I was so scared to fail that I brought husband with me for company for my first visit. He (reluctantly) went with me and before we had even finished foundations training, he was as hooked as I was and neither of us has looked back since.
I bring him into the story because he has a history of 8 surgeries after an accident, with the result being a completely fused ankle. All the coaches at CFH are ready to work around his limits. No matter where you are in the fitness continuum, the CFH coaches will give you something specific to do to bring you into the class as a full participant while meeting your specific needs. Beginners, intermediates, elite athletes, those with temporary injuries, and those with permanent health conditions all work side-by-side every day to become the best versions of themselves they can be.
It is incredible motivation to work at my level to be called an “athlete”, especially while training amongst some incredibly fit people. The best part? There is nothing to do ahead of time. Just show up. No working on your own routine with weights and reps, no picking and choosing, no wondering which body part needs to be worked today. The programming is done for you, and each class is led by one or more of the most knowledgeable coaches around. All you need to do is be there, follow the coaches, and know your body. It’s really that simple!!
From the moment I walked in the door, I was welcomed into the CFH family. You may have heard that in Crossfit, the people who finish last get the loudest cheers. Take it from someone who has been last on more than one occasion – there is nothing like the support of an entire class of athletes and friends getting you through those last few reps.
Fast forward two years. I am stronger and fitter than I have ever been. I am confident. I am capable. I have made friends that I will have for life.
There are no mirrors in Crossfit. But there are also no limits.
